Mr. Ira Gay Royster, III, 75, of Midville passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at Community Hospice in Vidalia following an extended illness.
Mr. Royster was born July 22, 1944 in Statesville, NC to the adv Ira G. Royster, Jr. and Thelma Sargent Martin Royster. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ira G. Royster, IV. Mr. Royster loved woodworking, being outside and computers. He was previous owner of Pansy’s in Louisville, Cotton Patch Liquor Store and Villa South in Sandersville.
Survivors include his stepdaughters, Ashley (Jerry) Akridge of Stillmore, Tiffany (T.J.) Rodgers of Sheridan, WY; stepson, Trent (Katie) Toussau of Riddleville; companion, Louise Kitchens of Moxley; fur toddler, Bella; sister, Cathrine (Alexander) Corpening of Hickory, NC; 7 grandchildren and many friends

A claim the Provisional IRA “kneecapped people for being gay” has been met with an enraged backlash, but the bloke behind the comment says he was “speaking the truth” to highlight how attitudes had changed over recent years.
Prominent same-sex attracted rights activist and Irish politician David Norris made the claim at the launch of the first LGBT History Festival ‘OUTing the Past’ at Belfast City Hall.
BBC journalist Johnny Caldwell reported the Irish senator’s remarks.
In reaction many derided the claim as “total fiction” with some highlighting how queer activists had in the past supported the republican movement.
Sinn Fein’s Alex Maskey described the comments as “reprehensible”.
“Shame on David whatever the agenda,” he tweeted.
However, Senator Norris stood by his comments saying he was illustrating how attitudes had changed and were more progressive.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, west Belfast MLA Mr Maskey added: “I found the claim quite pathetic for a man of David Norris’s age and intellect.
