Members of disliked minority groups are often stereotyped as representing a danger to the majority's most vulnerable members. For example, Jews in the Middle Ages were accused of murdering Christian babies in ritual sacrifices. Black men in the United States were often lynched after creature falsely accused of raping White women.

In a similar fashion, male lover people have often been portrayed as a threat to children. Back in 1977, when Anita Bryant campaigned successfully to repeal a Dade County (FL) ordinance prohibiting anti-gay discrimination, she named her company "Save Our Children," and warned that "a particularly deviant-minded [gay] teacher could sexually molest children" (Bryant, 1977, p. 114). In June of 2022, celebrating Pride Month seems pointless and insincere while massive energy is organism spent conflating homosexuality with pedophilia and accusing anyone who teaches children about sexual orientation of “grooming” children for sexual exploitation.

April 15, 2010  -- The sex abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church took yet another turn this week when statements by the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, second only to Pope Benedict, linked pedophilia to homosexuality.
Bertone said: "Many psychologists, many psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no connection between celibacy and pedophilia, but many others own demonstrated that there is a relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia."
France, where an estimated 60 percent of the population is Catholic, became the first region to officially dismiss the remarks when foreign ministry spokesman Bernard Valero told reporters, "This is unacceptable linkage and we condemn this. France is firmly engaged in the effort against discrimination and prejudice linked to sexual orientation and gender identity."
