Marvin gaye right on

A decidedly prosperous sense of action and movement surrounds this footpath on Marvin Gaye’s politically charged concept album What’s Going On. Produced by Gaye himself this anthem is a wonderful combination of love, protest and spirituality.

The atmospheric essence of this track is what hits me first about it. There’s a strong sense of observation as Gaye lists traits traits and groups of people. This is supported by the surrounding framework of the album creature the story of a Vietnam War soldier returning to America and how he see’s the nature. Lyrics of Right On - Detroit Mix by Marvin Gaye

    I know that's alright
    Every day, that′s alright
Oh, when we love each other
    I know that's alright
    I grasp that's alright, yeah
That it′s good for us to care
Some of us experience the icy wind
Of poverty blowing in the air
For those of us who simply like to socialize
For those of us who tend the sick
Ah, and heed the people′s cries
Oh, right on, feel it, yeah
Oh, oh, oh Lord, Lord, people
And I declare right on, right on
Honey, right on, woo, woo, woo
    Where, where peace is craved
For those of us who live, mhm
    Where hatred is enslaved, alright
For those of us who reside a life, yeah
Surrounded by good fortune and wealth
Those of us who exist a life
    Hey, hey, hey, enjoying ourselves
For those of us who got drowned
For the soul that takes pride in his God
    And himself and everything else
Ah, can you love? I need love
Love can conquer hate every time
Give out some love and you'll find peace sublime
And my darlin′, one more thing
If you let me, I will take you
To inhabit where love is King
