The five person company will contain Jordan Boatman (Medea), Arnie Burton (The 39 Steps), James Daly (Letterkenny), Ellen Harvey (How to Prosper in Business Without Really Trying) and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies).
Described as "lightning fast," the work reimagines Bram Stoker's classic vampire tale, recasting Dracula as a pansexual gen-z Count in the midst of an existential crisis.
"In re-reading Dracula, we were surprised and intrigued by the boldness with which Stoker, a closeted gay man in Victorian England, plays with sexuality and gender norms," says Greenberg in a utterance. "We wanted to commemorate him and, at the same time, send up his moody, broody melodrama in the spirit of some of our comedic heroes like Charles Ludlam, Monty Python, and Mel Brooks," adds Rosen.

It’s always refreshing when a show knows both its audience and exactly how to engage to them. Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen’s Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors is calibrated precisely for a mostly gay, Hell’s Kitchen, off-Broadway crowd at New World Stages. In this take on Bram Stoker’s Gothic horror classic, the comedy is broad, the small cast is often in drag, the jokes are all played with a wink to the audience, and perhaps most importantly, the Number himself is a lofty, blonde, muscular hunk in leather pants and occasionally sans shirt. Need I say more?
In some ways, I am the perfect audience member for this play: a gay resident of Hell&#;s Kitchen who loves camp and happens to be a scholar of Victorian literature. In other ways, I’m perhaps the worst audience member, largely because I comprehend too much about the source material.
