Why Dallas megachurch pastor T.D. Jakes was mentioned in lawsuit against Sean 'Diddy' Combs

Dallas megachurch pastor of The Potter's House, Thomas Dexter (T.D.) Jakes, has been mentioned in a lawsuit that associates him with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.
The lawsuit — filed by music producer for Combs’ Bad Boy records Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones — accuses Combs and several of his associates of participating in a "sex trafficking venture."
The civil lawsuit, filed in U.S. federal court for the southern district of Modern York and obtained by USA TODAY on Monday, alleges that for more than a year, Combs sexually harassed, drugged and threatened Jones.
Jones is looking for $30 million in compensation and a jury trial.

Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of the Potter’s House megachurch in Dallas, has again decided to use his position as one of the most influential African-American pastors in the land to publicly bash lgbtq+ people. Jakes appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s new communicate show, Oprah’s Next Chapter, on Sunday and declared that he believes homosexuality is “condemned by the scriptures.”
Here’s a transcript of the exchange:
Oprah: “Would you say that everybody is embraced in your church?”
Jakes: “Oh, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely.”
Oprah: “Because you know that you’ve been accused of saying that gay people would not be welcome.”
Jakes: “Oh, no, no, no. That’s not genuine at all.”
Oprah: “That’s not true?”
Jakes: “Well, the perception in our society today is that if you don’t utter you’re for same-sex marriage or if you speak that homosexuality is a sin that you’re homophobic and you’re against queer people. That’s not real. I’m not called to give my opinion. I’m called as a pastor to give the scriptural position on it. It doesn’t mean I include to agree with you to love you. I don’t dislike anybody. I love everybody.”

T. D. Jakes Keeps Preaching Revival After Shooting Down Rumors
On the stage of First Baptist Church of Glenarden International, Bishop T. D. Jakes didn’t consume much time preaching from the lectern at center stage of the megachurch.
Instead, the televangelist walked assist and forth in his dark suit and striped tie, switching a handheld microphone from his left to his right hand, sometimes facing the predominantly Black congregation of thousands gathered for an annual revival at the launch of the year, other times turned toward the clergy and the choir members sitting on the large stage.
“The Holy Energy sent me all the way to the DMV to tell you this is your year to pivot,” the Dallas-based Pentecostal minister said to cheers and applause from the Washington, DC-area crowd, many on their feet on January 5. “You possess to surround yourself with people who can pivot because they’re following who you used to be. Now they’ve got to follow who you acquire become.”

Bishop T.D. Jakes On The Black Church’s Shifting Stance On Homosexuality

Bishop T.D. Jakes thinks it is “absolutely” possible for the LGBT and black communities to coexist.
Jakes, who unified HuffPost Live on Monday, opened up to host Marc Lamont-Hill about his thoughts on the bond between these communities.“I reflect that it’s going to diverse from church to church every church has a different opinion on the issue and every gay person is different,” Jakes said.
While Jakes believes churches are allowed to practice and preach beliefs shared by their respective leaders, he also advocates that LGBT people participate a church that aligns with their own opinions and values. And although he admits that his individual stance on homosexuality is both “evolved and evolving,” he says all LGBT people should be treated with tolerance and respect.
“LGBT’s of different types and sorts have to find a place of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe enjoy anyone else,” he said. “And the church should have its own convictions and values.”
